Welcome to NTIF 2006!

Fair Park, Dallas. March 3rd, 4th & 5th

The 24th North Texas Irish Festival is now starting to take shape. The performer selection process is now well underway, and some of the musicians have already been signed.

The theme for this years festival is Heirs of Erin, which is the reason for the new look to the website in which we highlight 20th Century immigration to the United States and the cultural heritage brought by those people. Many of our featured musicians and dancers are well known second and third generation Irish-Americans, and a number of our cultural presentations will focus on the ways in which the Irish integrated into American life yet continued to remember their rich heritage.

The NTIF will be open during the following hours:

Friday, March 3           6:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Saturday, March 4     10:30 am - 11:30 pm
Sunday, March 5       11:30 am - 8:30 pm

Performer schedule

Performer schedule is now available. Check the Performer pages and download your own copy to plan your NTIF weekend. Note: If you downloaded the Microsoft Word copy of the schedule prior to 2/27/06 please obtain a new copy. The very overworked and careless webmaster uploaded the wrong version - sorry!

Jay McFarland of KRLD will be a guest MC on Friday night.

The Isle of Tears

Despite the island's reputation as an "Island of Tears", the vast majority of immigrants were treated relatively well, and were free to begin their new lives in America after only a few hours on Ellis Island.

More information on Ellis Island, including how to trace you own ancestors who may have passed through the halls of this historic building is available from the Ellis Island Foundation.

Brendan Graham wrote a wonderful song called Isle of Hope and Tears that tells the Annie Moore story.
